George Hodel: A Doctor, and a Black Dahlia Murder Suspect…. Before we begin, I’d like to explain why I chose to write about George Hodel in connection to the Black Dahlia murder case. Although, if you followed the murder of Elizabeth Short for any period of time at all you would understand. I’ve come across many arguments going both ways. Steve Hodel has argued for years that George was the killer, although some of his theories on his father committing other murders in other extremely complex cases is very far- fetched. I could have written another ten pages with the amount of information out there, but you will get the idea here. Few figures in true crime history are as complex and shadowy as George Hill Hodel Jr. A highly intelligent physician with a privileged life, he became infamous for his potential connection to one of the most brutal unsolved murders in American history, the Black Dahlia case. Hodel's life was one of brilliance, scandal, and suspi...
The Power of Genetic Genealogy in Solving Cold Cases!!   The world of criminal investigations has been forever changed by genetic genealogy. What once seemed like something out of a science fiction novel is now a powerful method used by law enforcement agencies to solve some of the most notorious cold cases. The use of DNA to trace suspects has been around for decades, but the combination of genetic analysis and genealogical research has brought about breakthroughs that were previously unimaginable. In this post, we will explore what genetic genealogy is, how it works, why it’s so effective, and how it has been used to crack unsolved mysteries. We’ll look at famous cases that were solved with this technique, including the Golden State Killer, and discuss the ethical considerations and controversies that surround this innovative approach to criminal justice. I tried to type this up to be as comprehensive as possible without going overboard. If there’s something that you...
The Unsolved Mystery of  Terri "Missy" Bevers' Murder   This story captures the main points of the Missy Bevers murder case, providing a detailed look into the events, theories, and the ongoing investigation. It is by no means exhaustive and hopefully I didn’t screw up any of the details writing this up, I didn't include EVERY little detail as this would have ended up being a MUCH longer read. A lot of the information is all over the place with quite a few theories and there were some very good points made. This is what I have so far and I will update this post accordingly as I run across new information. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ADD ANYTHING YOU MAY HAVE IN THE COMMENTS! Missy Bevers was a 45-year-old fitness instructor and a beloved member of the Midlothian, Texas community. She was well-known for her dedication to Camp Gladiator, a competitive fitness boot camp, and had a strong following among her students. Her early morning workouts on April 18, 2016, were int...
The Disappearance of  Nicholas Barclay This is one of those cases that really makes you scratch your head. For a multitude of reasons.  Few missing persons cases are as bizarre, unsettling, and downright baffling as that of Nicholas Barclay. His disappearance in 1994 was already tragic and suspicious, but what followed in 1997 turned the case into something straight out of a twisted psychological thriller. A French con artist named Frédéric Bourdin had SUCCESFULLY CONVINCED the grieving family that he was their missing son, despite obvious discrepancies in appearance, age, and even eye color. The case remains unsolved, sparking theories ranging from family involvement to a desperate act of denial. SO LET'S GET INTO IT, SHALL WE? Nicholas Barclay was a troubled 13-year-old boy from San Antonio, Texas. He had a history of behavioral problems, frequent clashes with his family, and multiple instances of running away. On June 13, 1994, he was last seen playing basketball n...
The Haunting Mystery of the Villisca Axe Murders The night of June 9, 1912, was like any other in the quiet town of Villisca, Iowa—until it became the setting for one of the most horrifying and baffling unsolved murders in American history. The Villisca Axe Murders left behind a gruesome crime scene, a trail of eerie clues, and more questions than answers. Over a century later, the case remains shrouded in mystery, fear, and ghostly whispers. The victims were the Moore family— 43-year-old Josiah and 39-year-old Sarah, along with their four children: Herman, 11, Katherine, 10, Boyd, 7, and Paul, 5. That evening, two young friends of Katherine’s, 12-year-old Lena and 8-year-old Ina Stillinger, were invited for a sleepover after a children’s church service. None of them knew they would never see the light of day again. Sometime between midnight and 5 a.m., an unknown intruder entered the Moore house. He had likely hidden in the attic, waiting for the family to fall asleep befo...
Mineral, WA. Murders I picked this case first to post because of the proximity of Ft. Lewis where I was stationed at the end of the 1990’s. I’ve visited Mt. Rainier more than a few times during this period. The case of Mike Riemer and Diana Robertson is one of the eeriest and most puzzling unsolved mysteries of the 1980s, blending elements of true crime, the wilderness, and an ominous message left behind. This is a detailed account of their deaths and the chilling circumstances surrounding their case.   On December 12, 1985, 36 year old Mike Riemer   and 21 year old Diana Robertson along with their two-year-old daughter, Crystal, set out on a trip into the forests of Washington State. Their destination was the remote backwoods of Pierce County, near the foothills of Mount Rainier. Mike, a roofer by trade, was also a trapper and outdoorsman who frequently set traps for animals in the area. Diana, his girlfriend, accompanied him that day, presumably to check traps, as they...
